Tuesday, October 21, 2008 - Post Fifth Meeting

Thank you all who came to the last meeting (10/16) for the Norwood cooperative project! I hope you began to see what might be possible for you in participating. We had a bunch more great ideas last week for getting the community involved, including a yard sale, a block party (with moon bounce), a food fair, in addition to great ideas from your neighbors at past meetings. 

The important next step that I forgot to mention is please invite at least one neighbor to this weeks meeting. Have a conversation about what's possible, and if they've already been to a meeting share what you're excited about!

Over the weekend Silvia and I went to an affordable housing cellebration hosted by EmpowerDC. We met a bunch of tenants in the process of buying their buildings, and many were excited to ask for an update from the Norwood! It seems like the whole city is behind us here, and they will be when we step up and shine as we move forward with a successful cooperative!

Tuesday, October 14, 2008 - Post Fourth Meeting

This is also a friendly reminder to invite your friends and neighbors to our meetings (remember, we'll have food, too)!  Thanks to those who made our fourth meeting really fantastic.

I really believe that turning the Norwood into a Co-Op will make possible so many things for ourselves and our community.  A more valuable building, an affordable and decent building, and a thriving community.  At the meeting we started to see what was possible for ourselves, now is the time to share this possibility with others so that this project will gain momentum.

The Norwood Tenants Association is available for you if you have any questions, or if you need support in participating in the Co-Op project.  Soon we will distribute flyers with more project details, stickers promoting the website (www.NorwoodCoOp.org), and info on upcoming trainings and meetings, and the announcement for our first Spanish meetings.
